Their concerts have left their mark on MC2: Les Musiciens du Louvre return under the baton of Marc Minkowski to perform one of Bizet's most famous scores: L'Arlésienne .

Before being adapted into two famous orchestral suites, L'Arlésienne was incidental music written in 1872 for Alphonse Daudet's play, itself inspired by a short story from his famous Lettres de mon moulin (Letters from My Windmill) . It is this complete version with chorus that is performed by Les Musiciens du Louvre, a shimmering score, rich in Provençal colors and themes. The dramatic narrative, adapted and read by narrator Roger Germser, who lends his musical voice to the concert, evokes the romantic disappointment of a young man who abandons his plan to marry a beautiful woman from Arles he met at the bullring upon learning that she had loved another. This woman from Arles will haunt his thoughts until the end of his days.
