​Born in 2002, Clément Pottier began his musical training as a violinist before taking up piano and singing. In 2012, he joined the Jeune Académie Vocale d’Aquitaine, directed by Marie Chavanel. From the age of 12 to 17, he took part in numerous productions, including Gabriel Fauré’s Pie Jesu from the Requiem (2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017), La Bohème (2014), the role of Miles in Benjamin Britten’s The Turn of the Screw (2016), the Truchement in Manuel de Falla’s El Retablo de Maese Pedro (2016), and Miranda (2019). These experiences enabled him to share the stage with singers such as Mireille Delunsch and to perform alongside the Orchestre National Bordeaux Aquitaine and Ensemble Pygmalion, under the direction of Paul Daniel, Pierre Dumoussaud, Roberto González-Monjas and Raphaël Pichon.

Trained in choral conducting by Marie Chavanel from an early age, he was admitted at the age of 15, by special dispensation, to the Orchestral Conducting class at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Bordeaux. In 2020, he joined the Orchestral Conducting class at the École Normale de Musique de Paris – Alfred Cortot, where he studied with Roberto Gatto, Julien Masmondet and Dominique Rouits. He has also participated in masterclasses with Louis Langrée, Bertrand de Billy, Adrien Perruchon and Lionel Sow. In May 2023, he was invited to take part in the Student Program of the Europäisches Jugendchorfestival in Basel, Switzerland.

He has worked with numerous leading ensembles, including the Gürzenich-Orchester Köln, Orquesta de la Comunitat Valenciana, Les Musiciens du Louvre, the Orchestre de l’Opéra de Massy, Ensemble Les Apaches!, the Orchestre Lamoureux, the Chœur de Radio France and the Chœur de l’Orchestre de Paris. He is mentored by conductor Marc Minkowski, whom he has assisted on major European stages since 2023, including the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, the Elbphilharmonie, the Teatro del Liceu, Les Arts Valencia and Oper Köln.

In June 2026, he stepped in at short notice for Marc Minkowski to conduct Les Musiciens du Louvre in Handel’s Orlando at the Ludwigsburger Schlossfestspiele in Germany. He subsequently conducted two concerts as part of a tour featuring Handel’s Dixit Dominus, at the Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid and at the Festival d’Auvers-sur-Oise.

In 2024, he founded the Orchestre & Chœur Étésias. The ensemble attracted critical attention from its very first performances, with Alain Cochard of ConcertClassic.com describing him as a “young conductor to watch.” During its inaugural season, the ensemble was invited to perform at the Festival de l’Épau. The Orchestre & Chœur Étésias has held a residency at Salle Cortot, and the Chœur Étésias will make its debut at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in January 2027.

Alongside his musical studies, Clément Pottier pursued a university degree in Geography and History at Sorbonne Université. He graduated in 2023 with a Bachelor’s degree in Geography, with a minor in History, achieving Très Bienhonours. Driven by a broad intellectual curiosity, he subsequently pursued a Master’s degree in European Governance at Sciences Po Grenoble.

Clément Pottier holds a postgraduate diploma (Mastère / Second Cycle Supérieur) in Orchestral Conducting from the École Normale de Musique de Paris – Alfred Cortot, which he completed in June 2024 with high honours and the unanimous congratulations of the jury.
