Born in 2002, Clément Pottier began his musical journey with the violin before taking up piano and voice. In 2012, he joined the Jeune Académie Vocale d'Aquitaine as a chorister under the direction of Marie Chavanel. His career as a solo singer began in 2014 at the Opéra National de Bordeaux.

From the age of 12 to 17, he took part in numerous productions, including the Pie Jesu from Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem(2014, 2015, 2016, 2017), La Bohème (2014), the role of Miles in Benjamin Britten’s The Turn of the Screw (2016), the Interpreter in Manuel de Falla’s El Retablo de Maese Pedro (2016), and Miranda (2019). These experiences allowed him to share the stage with singers such as Mireille Delunsch and to perform with the Orchestre National de Bordeaux Aquitaine and Ensemble Pygmalion, under the baton of Paul Daniel, Pierre Dumoussaud, Roberto Gonzalez-Monjas, and Raphaël Pichon.

Trained in choral conducting from a young age by Marie Chavanel, he was exceptionally admitted at the age of 15 into the orchestral conducting class of the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Bordeaux, before joining the conducting class of the École Normale de Musique de Paris – Alfred Cortot in 2020. He studied with Roberto Gatto, Julien Masmondet, and Dominique Rouits, and attended masterclasses with Louis Langrée, Bertrand de Billy, Adrien Perruchon, and Lionel Sow.

He continued developing his choral conducting skills by substituting for several Parisian amateur choir directors and was invited to the “Student Program’’ of the Europäisches Jugendchorfestival Basel (Switzerland) in May 2023. In September 2024, he became the Musical Director of the Ensemble Vocal de Neuilly-sur-Seine.

Throughout his studies and engagements, he has worked with numerous leading ensembles, including the Gürzenich-Orchester Köln, Les Musiciens du Louvre, the Orchestre de l’Opéra de Massy, Ensemble Les Apaches!, the Orchestre Lamoureux, and the Chœur de Radio France.

Since the age of 14, he has received guidance from conductor Marc Minkowski, who invited him to follow productions such as Rameau’s Platée (Opéra de Paris, 2022) and Offenbach’s La Périchole (Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, 2022), and to assist him on productions such as the Mozart/Da Ponte Trilogy (Opéra Royal de Versailles, 2023), Handel’s Alcina (Philharmonie de Paris, 2023), Handel’s La Resurrezione (Grand Théâtre de Provence and Elbphilharmonie, 2024), and the Händel/Marina Viotti Recital (Théâtre des Champs-Élysées and Abbaye de Saint-Martin de Thiérache, 2024). Thanks to Marc Minkowski, he returned to his solo career in the 2024–2025 season for a performance of Bach’s St John Passion with the Wrocław Baroque Orchestra.

After a rich season, Clément Pottier looks forward to rejoining Les Musiciens du Louvre at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées (Robinson Crusoé, Orlando, Dixit Dominus), as well as working again with his Orchestre et Chœur Étésias. He will make his debuts with the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana (Giulio Cesare in Egitto), the Chœur de l’Orchestre de Paris (Requiem, Ligeti), and in prestigious venues such as the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía (Valencia), Gran Teatre del Liceu (Barcelona), Auditorio Nacional de Música (Madrid), Die Glocke (Bremen), and at the Festival d’Auvers-sur-Oise.

Alongside his musical studies, Clément pursued an academic path in Geography and History at Sorbonne University. He graduated in 2023 with highest honors, earning a major in Geography and a minor in History. This program allowed him to continue his vocal practice within the Sorbonne University Choir, with which he participated in major projects such as the Chorégies d’Orange Bastille Day Concert (Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis, 2022) and the choir for the Bastille Day parade on Avenue Foch in 2024. Driven by intellectual curiosity, he also completed a Master’s degree in European Governance at Sciences Po Grenoble.

Clément Pottier holds a Mastère/Second Cycle Supérieur in Orchestral Conducting from the École Normale de Musique de Paris–Alfred Cortot, graduating in June 2024 with highest honors and the congratulations of the jury.
