Born in 2002, Clément Pottier began his musical career on the violin, before learning piano and singing. He became a chorister with the Jeune Académie Vocale d'Aquitaine directed by Marie Chavanel in 2012. In 2014, he began his career as a soloist with the Opéra National de Bordeaux.

From the age of 12 to 16, he took part in numerous productions, including the Pie Jesu in Gabriel Fauré's Requiem (2014, 2015, 2016, 2017), La Bohème (2014), the role of Miles in Benjamin Britten's “The turn of the Screw” (2016), the truchement in Manuel de Falla's “El Retablo de Maese Pedro” (2016) and “Miranda” (2018).

These experiences have enabled him to share the stage with singers such as Mireille Delunsch, Thomas Dolié, Eric Huchet...and to sing with Orchestre National de Bordeaux Aquitaine and Ensemble Pygmalion, under the baton of Paul Daniel, Pierre Dumoussaud, Roberto Gonzalez-Monjas and Raphäel Pichon.

Trained as a choral conductor by Marie Chavanel from an early age, he entered the conducting class at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Bordeaux at the age of 15, by special dispensation, before joining the conducting class at the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris - Alfred Cortot in 2020.

He studied with Roberto Gatto, Julien Masmondet and Dominique Rouits. He also attended masterclasses with Louis Langrée, Bertrand de Billy, Adrien Perruchon and Lionel Sow. He also continues his training in choral conducting, replacing conductors of Parisian amateur choirs and being invited to the “Student Program” by the Europäisches Jugendchorfestival in Basel (Switzerland) in May 2023. In September 2024, he became musical director of the Ensemble Vocal de Neuilly-sur-Seine.

During his studies and engagements, he has worked with many leading ensembles, including the Gürzenich-Orchester Köln, Les Musiciens du Louvre, Orchestre de l'Opéra de Massy, Ensemble Les Apaches, Orchestre Lamoureux, and Choeur de Radio France.

Since he was 14, he has been mentored by conductor Marc Minkowski, who invited him to follow productions such as Rameau's Platée in 2022 (Opéra de Paris), Offenbach's La Périchole in 2022 (Théâtre des Champs-Elysées) and to assist him on productions such as the Mozart/Da Ponte Trilogy in 2023 (Opéra Royal de Versailles) or Handel's Alcina in 2023 (Philharmonie de Paris), Handel's La Resurrezione in March 2024 (Grand Théâtre de Provence and Elbphilharmonie) or a Handel/Marina Viotti Recital in June 2024 (Théâtre des Champs-Elysées and Abbaye de St Martin en Thiérache).

Clément Pottier begins his 2024/2025 season as assistant conductor at the Cologne Opera (August/October 2024) for Joseph Haydn's “Die Schöpfung”. This season, he will work in several Bizet productions with Les Musiciens du Louvre and will have the pleasure of rejoining the Orchestre Étésias for four sessions in Paris and a tour in Bordeaux.

Alongside his musical training, Clément Pottier studied Geography-History at Sorbonne University. He graduated with honours in 2023. This curriculum enabled him to continue his vocal training with the Sorbonne University Choir, with whom he took part in numerous projects, including the Concert du 14 juillet 2022 (Beethoven's Missa Solemnis) at the Chorégies d'Orange, and the choir for the July 14, 2024 parade on Avenue Foch. Curious about learning, he is returning to university for the 2024/2025 academic year, pursuing a master's degree in “European Governance” at Sciences Po Grenoble.

Clément Pottier holds a Mastère/Second Cycle Supérieur in Orchestral Conducting from the École Normale de Musique de Paris-Alfred Cortot, obtained with honours in June 2024.
